Then a founder hires the cheaper team eight time zones away, and a two-week feature runs three weeks late because every question waits overnight for an answer that comes back slightly wrong. The real cost of building software is the rate multiplied by how many round trips it takes to reach the right result, plus the friction of working across a big time gap. A team 30% cheaper per hour but eight time zones away looks like a saving until you count the day-long delays on every question and the calls scheduled at 6am because that is the only overlap. Two round trips a day instead of six, and the cheaper rate quietly costs you weeks.

What Romania specifically offers
Romania is in the EU, on Central European Time, with a deep pool of senior engineers and English as the working norm in tech. For an EU or UK client that means a near-full working-day overlap (one hour off London, none off Berlin), GDPR-native data handling, and contracts under EU law. For a US client it means three to four real hours of overlap at the start of the US day, enough to keep decisions moving without anyone living on a night shift.
When we will tell you to go offshore
We are not the answer to every brief, and we will say so.
